Entrepreneurship Development Program
I. Objective
• Promote the culture of entrepreneurship to aspiring entrepreneurs;
• To support new start up; and
• Facilitate job creation.
The division carries out the following duties:
• Announce the availability of entrepreneurial courses through the media,
• Register the application using online form,
• Short–list applicants,
• Notify short-listed candidates on the status of applications; and
• Invite the panel for the interview
II. Eligibility Criteria
In order to enroll for the entrepreneurship courses the applicants have to fulfill certain criteria.
a) Basic Entrepreneurship Course
• Should be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of application;
• Should be trained in a vocational/technical skill;
• Should be ready to start a small business based on his/her vocational/technical skill;
• Should not already have an established business of his/her own; and
• Should be ready and willing to attend the BEC on a full time basis.
b) Comprehensive Entrepreneurship Course
• Should be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of application;
• Should have a viable business idea;
• Should have a academic qualification of higher secondary education (Class XII);
• Should be ready to start a small business;
• Should not already have an established business of his/her own;
• Should not have loan with any financial institution; and
• Should be ready and willing to attend the CEC on a full time basis.
c) Advance Entrepreneurship Course
• Should be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of application;
• Should have a viable business idea;
• Should have a minimum academic qualification of Undergraduate, Post Graduate; PhD;
• Should be ready to start a small business;
• Should not already have an established business of his/her own;
• Should not have loan with any financial institution; and
Should be ready and willing to attend the AEC on a full time
III. Documents Required
The aspiring entrepreneurs have to submit the following documents for the course:
• On line Application Form
• Job Seeker Number
• Copy of Citizenship Identity Card
• Academic Certificates and Mark Sheets
• Training Certificates, if any
IV. Funding support
The participants who completed entrepreneurship training, the project proposal will be forwarded to funding agencies as given below.

2. Cottage and Small Industry Financing Department, BDB for RF 1
3. Rural Enterprise Development Corporation Ltd. for RF 2
4. Financial Institutes for funding support under Priority Sector Lending
5. International funding agencies
